William Penn Foundation Online Annual Report

The William Penn Foundation turned to the I-SITE team to take their Annual Report online and create a compelling digital story highlighting the Foundation’s work and achievements to the region’s community of innovators and grant seekers.

The goals of the project were:

• Create a highly visual design that showcases the Foundation’s philanthropic work
• Create a linear storyline
• Deliver the optimal experience for desktop and mobile users
• Deliver an engaging interactive experience with an easy to access and use navigation
• Develop on a CMS for easy creation and deployment of future annual reports

Drawing on the experience of developing and supporting the William Penn Foundation website, the I-SITE team worked closely with the Foundation staff to map out the required content, storyline and desired interactive features for the project. The Foundation provided compelling and powerful photography and content to support their mission and the three Program areas of Creative Communities, Great Learning and Watershed Protection.

The visual design is consistent with the Foundation website but also includes enhancements and functionality that makes it stand alone as a powerful piece of media. The I-SITE team designed the interface to present key content including Program Areas and 2016 Awards in a clear and concise fashion for readability on mobile as well as desktop.

The site was built on Drupal 8 for forward-compatibility of future annual reports and draws on functionality found elsewhere in the Foundation’s website, most notably and the Interactive Timeline.

The Annual Report was set up with admin functionality that allows the Foundation team to create future editions with the I-SITE team providing support.
